Small extruder refers to small single screw extruder, small twin-screw extruder and small three screw extruder, is one of the main tools used in polymer processing and forming in laboratory, it can complete melting and plasticizing of polymer, extrusion function, cooperate with different mould, can extru different types of products, such as sheet, plate, profiles, pipes, films, etc.In order to improve the plasticizing effect and feed stability of the material, the small extruder can also be equipped with manual plate mesh changer, melt pump, static mixer, etc.The following are the main components of a small extruder:


The small extruder consists of the main motor, gear reducer box, feed base, thrust package, screw, barrel, transition body, die, heating/cooling system, touch screen, etc.

(1) motor and gear reducer: the motor and gear reducer provide driving power for the screw. Among them, the motor is servo motor. Meanwhile, it is equipped with special speed reducer for servo motor, which can ensure the stability of speed and torque output, and provide constant torque output within the range of full speed.

(2) feed thrust package: feed integral structure are made of high strength aluminum alloy finishing, the internal cooling water channel is open, to take away the cylinder feeding period of plenty of heat generated due to friction, which can effectively prevent feeding difficulties as a result of feeding material in the melt.The inlet and outlet are located on the left side, and the cooling system adopts inner circulating cooling system.Equipped with large thrust bearing, it can withstand the axial force produced by the working process of screw.

(3) cylinder and screw: the cylinder and screw are one of the core working parts of the extrusion unit. They are all made of high-performance materials. The screw is plated with hard chromium nitride.

(4) the die head and transition: small extruder can be configured T hangers type die head, blown film die head, special-shaped material die and mould, etc., the high performance materials, has a good corrosion resistance, wear resistance performance.The film thickness can be adjusted by the lower lip screw, and the thickness uniformity can be adjusted by the upper lip adjusting screw.The transition body is used to connect the cylinder and die head and is made of high performance materials.

(5) heating/cooling system: the small extruder is divided into 7 temperature control zones, which are:

Temperature control zone 1-3: heating/cooling zone of cylinder;

Temperature control zone 4: transition body heating zone;

Temperature control zone 5-7: head heating zone

The machine barrel is divided into three sections of temperature control area, all of which are heated by casting aluminum (optional copper) heater.Each temperature control area is equipped with thermocouple. The temperature is controlled by advanced PLC controller and can be displayed on the screen in real time.A cooling fan is installed on the side of each temperature control area of the cylinder. The cooling fan is cooled by blowing air to prevent the friction and heat from causing the cylinder to overheat.The transition body heater is a copper plate heater. Thermocouple is installed in both places and temperature is controlled in three zones.

(6) operating screen: the operating screen is installed on a small extruder and can rotate within 60°for convenient operation.There is a power indicator light and an emergency stop button on the right of the touch screen. In case of emergency, press the emergency stop button to stop immediately, which is used to protect the safety of operators and machines.The data recording, parameter setting, operation control and other operations of the small extruder are completed in this operation screen.

(7) control system: the small extruder adopts Siemens PLC control system, with strong operational capability and excellent stability to ensure the stable operation of each function of the small extruder.
